Afua Asantewaa Surpasses Guinness World Record For Longest Singing Marathon

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a Ghanaian lady, has broken the Guinness World mark for the longest singing marathon by an individual, beating India’s Sunil Waghmare’s previous mark.

Afua Asantewaa’s musical marathon nicknamed “afuaasantewaasingathon” began at midnight on December 24, 2023 and lasted five days and a few hours, combining numerous positions such as standing, lying down, sitting, and crouching.

Unfazed by the physical hurdles, Afua finished the marathon at midnight on Friday, December 29, 2023, after accumulating 126 hours of continuous singing.

Sunil Waghmare, the famed Indian vocalist, formerly held the official record of 105 hours. Unofficially, she sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes, beating Waghmare’s record by 21 hours.

Sunil Waghmare, who became famous in 2012 as the Guinness World Record holder for the longest singing marathon, began his musical career at the age of 14. Afua, unlike Sunil, is not a professional musician but simply enjoys music, according to local media.

With Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s astounding feat, the musical landscape has reached a new high point, demonstrating the indomitable spirit of artists dedicated to pushing the limits of artistic excellence.
